3. Bite

[Drusilla has been away on a combat mission in the mountains. She loves those types of missions; this was her second, and it was a long one. She fed; oh, she fed. Gorged herself on the blood of the fallen enemies that littered the steep, rocky terrain around her.

Turned a few Third Party warriors who seemed attractive enough to turn. She had plans to create her own demon army on the Outside. These fell through when the Organization shipped her back to the enclosure.]

[Voice|Video]

Jilly? I know you from through the window. I've made a doll.

[The video clicks on, and a horrid picture appears: a likeness similar to Jilly, with dark pits instead of eyes and a mouth stitched shut mid-scream. Beside it is a scratched-in number Seven.]

I want you all in my belly.

[/Voice|Video]

[Tonight Drusilla is on a quest to kill whomever she can and to turn whomever she can into vampires. The last thread, chronologically, will go to Buffy (together, possibly, with Faith if Aly and Kyra feel like doing that).]

The night was clear. Clear and quiet and so many of them were, in Luceti. Patrols had long ago grown into solitary walks and chunks of time that afforded Buffy Summers the opportunity to think. And boy, did she ever have a lot of thinking to do. Not only tonight but on most nights -- there was always one problem or another revolving itself and looping in her mind. Tonight, she was considering the practical benefits of drawing another soul or two into her grander scheme. An armour-suited man might not be such a terrible addition. Nor a witch, although Willow's participation was probably a given. Or so she assumed. It would only take the proper approach. Soon, Buffy thought. Soon.

And while she patrolled, she missed any and all relevant journal threats. Instead of a book, her hands held her scythe. Red and dangerous in the starlight and just as thirsty as the vampire it hoped to one day deal with. A second problem popped into her thoughts: how soon should she introduce Faith to the weapon's existence? Should even try at all? It was only fair...

But since when had anything ever been fair between the pair of them?

"Weeks and weeks and weeks," the Slayer said to the trees around her and to the pebbles beneath her feet. "Weeks of schlepping around these paths and those woods and I haven't seen anything new. Maybe she's got her very own golden ticket and went back to...harassing whoever the hell she was harassing before we got stuck with her."

Talking to herself. The evening was getting desperate, wasn't it? With a disappointed sigh, Buffy turned on her heel and began marching back in the direction of the village. Her bones were weary and while she sorely missed Cullen House, she wasn't sure she was prepared to face those consequences. Not yet.

And so, Seven it was.

[She can guess who this is...but she doesn't filter. She doesn't even try. Anything that's said, she'd like to make sure Buffy can read it...and she hopes she can make it be known that she's alive and safe and sound before Horatio or Archie or Amelia or anyone else decided to take matters into their own hands]

[well...that confirmed it. If she wanted her out of the house, this had to be Drusilla.]

Sorry. It's been a long week. I think I'll stay in, if it's all the same.

[She manages to keep her voice steadier than she feels. Sailor-boy. Archie. She knew she should be safe inside the walls of House Seven...but what about him? Was he working tonight?] We both will.

[a bluff, but better that than admit that he might be elsewhere...and unaware of the threat.]

[Except-

...even if they weren't in danger, that didn't mean others weren't.

She had no intention of putting herself in harm's way, but she could at least try to give the Slayer a head's up]

...If...If we changed our minds, though, where would you be?

[please be listening, Buffy.]

"You know, B...they say talkin' to yourself is the first sign of crazy."

She'd been careful, these past few weeks, making sure to avoid the fairer Slayer as much as possible. But Luceti wasn't all that large, and they crossed paths often enough during patrols. Faith just usually didn't bother to speak up when it happened. Not unless the Buffy noticed her first.

Or unless Buffy was making her internal monologue and external one, apparently.

"...And don't we know a thing or two about being crazy, huh?"

It was difficult to say whether her comment was directed on Faith's brand of instability, her own brushes with insanity, or some awkward mixture of the two. Probably the third, although this Slayer would deny it.

"Are you getting that eerie-pit-of-your-stomach-wrongness feeling, too? 'Cause I was just about to staunchly ignore it and head home."
want_take_have: (Don't make me come over there)

"Takes one to know one, right?"

She gave an uncomfortable shrug, stepping out from the shadows the join the Buffy on the road itself.

"Don't know what it is, but I feel somethin'. Like an itch."

In truth, it had been almost a relief to feel that lingering apprehension. It might carry the promise of a fight...and there was no doubt she could use a good one to settle the unease the last week had left her with.

A snort of a laugh. Takes one to know one? Did it ever. But Buffy felt impulse-driven to keep that veneer so firmly in place when interacting with Faith. She had the image to play into: the good Slayer; the successful Slayer; the sane Slayer. There were aches and pains and issues a-plenty below the business front but those were weaknesses and Faith should never see them. Just like how Faith should never see her happiness, either. Her joys. Buffy guarded those covetously and close to her heart.

She tossed the scythe from hand to hand. "Could be the Shift, but I think most people have worn off the wacko-sauce. I hope." Because Jack had gone vamp for a few days there and she did not like the thought of running into any surprise demons, tonight.

Buffy nodded down the path. Join me.
want_take_have: (Tell me that's not real)

[personal profile] want_take_have 2012-06-05 01:51 am (UTC)(link)

"Drusilla's been too quiet for too long. And..." And she got a nice dose of the dreams, recently. Creepy little mental warnings. Slayer instincts.

She wondered -- "Have you had any? Dreams? You know the ones I'm talking about."

Other girls. Other demons. Anything other than their own tragic night-terrors.

I...I think she's Drusilla. If she's who I think she is, she's a vampire. Buffy's dealt with her before.

She can't come in here unless she's invited, and that won't be happening.

But if she thinks I might, she'll stay outside and Buffy might be able to find her.
