Hallo, pretty New Feathers! I am hosting a feast. A feast by the lake to the West.

[Not the southern lake -- she needs to keep certain peoples' attention away from the lonely house she inhabits there.]

You are all invited! I have prepared something for you. It tastes of mint and chicory and iron! Yarrow and tansy! It will make you stronger.

Come.

[/Voice]

[Action]

Drusilla will be stalking about the woods as usual, eager to assist anyone who HASN'T heeded her invitation.

There is a cage waiting there, hidden under the trees. It is large enough to house a full-grown adult human.

It tastes of mint and iron.

It is, fair Saleh. Is that you?

Yes...it is me.

I've come for your..."feast." I'm wondering who exactly the feast is for.

[He knows there's no point in hiding his suspicion. His eyes and expression is probably already giving it away.]

For me. For me and Dinah.

[She tosses back her hair and confronts the sage, holding a small porcelain doll up to the light. The doll is immaculately dressed, while Dru is in rags.]

She's simply starving.

[Saleh tilts his head as he studies the doll. Dolls...normally don't eat. But children like to pretend that they do. Perhaps this is what Dru was doing? At the moment, it can't hurt to play along.]

And...what does she eat?

You know, Saleh. The blood of infants. She licks it from her thumb.

I...didn't know...

Surely that's not the only thing she eats...

[Because infant blood is way too disturbing.]

That is all she wants. She is a creature of wanting. She is a creature of appetite.

[She takes a step toward Saleh, hoping for blood. Hoping.]

Well...I don't have any infant blood...

[He tenses up at Dru's appoach, but he doesn't move.]

And what about YOUR blood, my good man? My very very good man?

[She croons as she speaks, stepping closer and closer.]

I'm thirsty.

[He studies her carefully. She doesn't look nearly as weak as she did before, so a donation may not be necessary. But perhaps he can give her a small one...]

Hmm...perhaps just a little...

Mmmmmm. [Another step closer.] You will need a knife...or my nails.

I have a knife.

[He steps back to give himself some space as he draws a knife from his pack. He then presses the tip into his index finger, drawing just a drop of blood.]

[This is like waving a tiny bit of crack in front of a full-fledged addict. She starts to tremble and pouts:]

That's all?

That is all you need, isn't it? You don't appear as needy as before.

[He holds his finger out to her, slowly bleeding out more blood.]

But I want to feast. [Still, she isn't about to alienate one of the few willing to feed her. Drusilla licks the blood from the small wound. It tastes heavenly.]

...Somehow, feasting on humans doesn't sound very pleasant...

[Regardless, Saleh pulls his hand back, squeezing his finger to bring out a little more blood, then offers it to her again.]

[And again she drinks.]

Because you are not yet family, Saleh; once you are? You will understand all.

And by family, you mean to turn me, yes?

I'm afraid I must pass...

[They've had this conversation before; she knew this would be his answer. It doesn't mean she won't keep trying.

Dru steps back, away from him, wiping his blood from the corner of her mouth and licking her fingers clean.]

You surpass, my lord. You surpass many here.

Surpass? How...?

[He doesn't see himself as anything special compared to the other people here. In fact, he's quite certain that there are people who are far more powerful than himself.]

In your innocence. Your beautiful innocence and goodness.

So...you like innocent people? Or is it just me?

It is not just you, Saleh, though you are....tasty. I crave innocence. It is the innocent blood that tastes sweetest. It is the screams of the innocent that sound the most melodious.
