[Drusilla has been away on a combat mission in the mountains. She loves those types of missions; this was her second, and it was a long one. She fed; oh, she fed. Gorged herself on the blood of the fallen enemies that littered the steep, rocky terrain around her.

Turned a few Third Party warriors who seemed attractive enough to turn. She had plans to create her own demon army on the Outside. These fell through when the Organization shipped her back to the enclosure.]

Jilly? I know you from through the window. I've made a doll.

[The video clicks on, and a horrid picture appears: a likeness similar to Jilly, with dark pits instead of eyes and a mouth stitched shut mid-scream. Beside it is a scratched-in number Seven.]

[Tonight Drusilla is on a quest to kill whomever she can and to turn whomever she can into vampires. The last thread, chronologically, will go to Buffy (together, possibly, with Faith if Aly and Kyra feel like doing that).]

Buffy decided to interpret that statement rather...liberally.

"Having a tough time settling, huh?" For a moment, she wanted to ask how different this place was from real prison.

"Settling into Sleepy Hollow? No thanks."

She gave a small shrug of her shoulders. "Not really my thing, anyway."

"And here I was, expecting the lack of orange jumpsuits to be entirely your thing."

"Hey, joint's got points for free fashion, but that doesn't mean I feel like callin' it home."

"...How's the food?"

"Not one of the perks."

She raised an eyebrow. "You lookin' for something specific?"

[herotypical]

"From you?" Mock-innocence. "No. Nothing specific. Just..."

A loose swing of the scythe, passing it through the empty air. "Never mind. Nix the casual chats about the slammer. Got it."

"It ain't exactly the stuff of epics, you know."

Her gaze followed the scythe as it swung over the path ahead of them. "Gotta be a lot more excitement back at good ol' Sunny D."

"Sunnydale."

Oh. Right. Faith didn't know...

"Things've...happened. Yes. Hip-hop-and-happening, back in the creepiest place on Earth."

"Hip hop with me playin' hero. Definitely not the same old."

"If it's any consolation, you were a pretty late entrant in the game."

"Ridin' in to save the day?" She gave a small smirk. "Guess I'm okay with that."

She nodded in the direction of the path. "So...where are you thinkin' we'll find Ms. Dark and Crazy?"

"Last time, she made a big old threatening list. You could've swapped it out for the guest list to my birthday party." Read: people close to Buffy were targets. "But I think I've got everyone on the same don't invite the strange lady inside page. So that's a plus.

Hey. Do you think the whole invite thing works for boats?"

"Why? Think one could carry you outta here?"

"No. It's been tried. But there's this..." Guy I know. Nope. Reverse reverse. "Some people here really like their boats. I'd hate to see them get crunched and munched just for playing sailor."

"I saw a few of those sailor boys walkin' around." A kind of half smile settled on her lips. "Dish, Buff. You chasin' uniforms? Gotta say, some of them seemed plenty pretty."

[herotypical]

Buff. It got her back up. Raised her hackles, so to speak. Sent her back to the corner of cold-shoulders and non-cooperation.

"What? No. Definitely not chasing any uniforms." She did a good job of sounding horrified. After all, it wasn't a lie. "I am...so through with uniforms."

"Alright, alright. Soldiers are out. Got it." The joke was still in her voice, but more tempered. Remembering the last soldier Buffy had. And her role in that.

She knew that she should apologize. Somehow. But what could she even say? I'm sorry I stole your body and slept with your boyfriend?

I'm sorry I shot and poisoned Angel?

I'm sorry I tried to kill you.

I'm sorry-

She cleared her throat. "The, uh...boats. You want me to check 'em out? Make sure they're all vamp-free?"

Boats. Cullen House. Jack. Buffy did not want to send Faith out there but -- but it wasn't as though she truly feared for her pirate's loyalty.

Pirate's loyalty. Now there was an oxymoron.

"You know the way?"

"Just listen for the sound of waves, yeah?"

She flipped a stake out from under her coat, letting it sit in her hand. Not as flashy as Buffy's scythe, but it would do.

"I got it.

Give a holler if you wanna tag team?"

[herotypical]

"Do that and it'll take you a day to get out there. There's a transporter in the barracks. It'll take you right to the coast. There, you'll see all the boats lined up. Sokka's, the one Haruhi had built, the Joanna Joy--"

Oh. Faith would know the name; doubly so, with her stumbling over it. "Joyce. The Britannia's not so much docked as...whatever they call being left out on the water and needing a rowboat to get to it."

She did know the name...and she knew that now was not the time to ask. So she doesn't. "Transporter. Boats all in a row. Easy."

She took a step backward, ready to head out, but she paused long enough to add one more thought. "Watch your back, B."

Since she was pretty sure Buffy wouldn't be calling on her if she found Drusilla.

"And you yours," she replied before taking herself and her weapon further down the path. And she hoped she wouldn't regret entrusting Faith with this freedom.

Not like she could enforce anything other than freedom, of course. Buffy understood that much about this place.
